44th AYC Birthday Regatta and Leukemia Cup
One of the most important things we do during this regatta is raise
money to fight leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Here are some suggestions
for how you can help us:
Also, when you're filling out your race entry, be sure to sign up
for the "Leukemia Cup." This is a separate fee in addition
to the regular race entry. It will allow you to win more trophies in the
same race, but, more important, 100% of those funds are donated to the
Leukemia Society. Everybody should sign up for this.
Don't want to race? Sign up for our cruising class poker run (information
below). You need no experience to win and it's a lot of fun.
Take your sweetheart out for dinner and dancing Friday, January
16th at 6:00pm at the Birthday Regattas tune-up party. Dinner will
be served by our very own five-star chef Rick Johnson for just $12 and
there will be a live band for dancing. Look for the heated hospitality
tent as you enter Pleasant Harbor Marina.
There's still room aboard the Desert
Princess II, your luxury box seat to the regatta. You can join
Rick DAmico for a $25 tax-deductible donation. There will be finger
food, music and a cash bar. The cruise is Saturday, January 17th, from
12:30 pm until 3:30. Do you have a customer who you would like to win
over? Consider this event.
And Saturday, January 17th, beginning at 6 pm is the best
dinner party of the year. BBQ dinner and all the fixin's. Auction
and raffle to follow.
Although perfect weather cannot be guaranteed even in Arizona, the forecast
for the weekend is very good, with a high temp likely to be in the 70s.
So, whether you're coming to race or simply planning to sit on the shore
in the sunshine and watch your friends and family race, scenic views,
good competition, pleasant weather and a lively evening social scene are
all in the cards!
